Arthur Lefevre, Jr. (1890-1968) was an industrial publications editor for Texaco. One of three children, he was the son of Adela Beale Yerby (1864-1940) and Arthur Lefevre, Sr. (1863-1928), an educator, school superintendent, and editor of the Texaco Star . After several aborted attempts to form a state press association in 1853, 1869, and 1873, 77 Texas newspaper publishers organized the Texas Press Association at Houston in 1880. J. W. Fishburn, publisher of the Mexia Ledger served as the association’s first president.
